Ebrahim Cassim, born in South Africa in 1977, overcame an economically challenging upbringing and fostered a drive for academic excellence. Upon completing his Matric, he earned a scholarship to the prestigious WITS University. He took a one-year sabbatical and dedicated himself to exploring and contemplating various career opportunities.
After his sabbatical, Ebrahim re-enrolled at WITS University and was awarded a Commerce Scholarship. In 2000, he successfully graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, majoring in Financial Accounting, Cost and Management Accounting, and Economics.
Concurrently, he worked as an independent Maths Tutor for over three years, effectively assisting students in improving their grades.
Following graduation, Ebrahim began his professional journey as a Consultant in a Forex Bank. He then completed a three-year programme with SAICA (South African Institute of Chartered Accountants). Subsequently, he seized an opportunity to work in New York City as a Senior Auditor for five years. During this time, he obtained an Audit Certification from UNISA and pursued advanced studies in US Federal Tax and US Business Law at DeVry University in NYC.
In 2009, Ebrahim returned to South Africa and held prominent positions in notable Fortune 500 Companies, specialising in Finance and Taxation. His roles ranged from Senior Accountant and Group Accountant to Tax Manager, overseeing operations within South Africa and the Sub-Sahara region. Ebrahim’s unwavering commitment to education persisted, and in 2022, he achieved distinction in Post Grad Tax from WITS University. He is a member of the South African Institute of Tax Professionals.
In 2025, Ebrahim was inducted into the Golden Key Honour Society. He is placed among the top 15% of Academic Learners. Being part of the Golden Key Society is a milestone Ebrahim cherishes deeply—not just as a personal achievement, but as a testament to the unwavering support of lecturers who believed in him, friends who encouraged him, late-night study sessions that shaped his discipline, and family who constantly reminded him of his potential. It is both an honor and a responsibility to belong to a society that includes visionary leaders like Desmond Tutu, Bill Clinton, Nelson Mandela, Stephen King and many others. Their legacy inspires Ebrahim to pursue excellence and contribute meaningfully to education and society
Ebrahim is a dedicated family man, supported by his loving wife and blessed with a beautiful daughter. Recognising the importance of providing the best educational opportunities for their child, they turned to Tutor Doctor to support her academic needs at the age of six years.
